Why Should We Meditate?

A student on the Spiritual Path asked me, “Why should we meditate?”

People take up Meditations for different reasons to begin with. They take up Meditations usually to find solutions to their various problems—health issues, financial difficulties, problems with relationships, to overcome stress, to find peace and so on.

After they spend some time meditating, they realise that there is a greater purpose in taking up Spiritual Practice. They become aware of higher Truths, higher realities, and their problems either get resolved or they begin to look less important or trivial.

As they spend more time in their Sadhana, their goal shifts from solving their problems to achieving higher Spiritual goals.

Their goal keeps expanding, and ultimately, they set their goal on attaining freedom—to free themselves from all bondages and to become Light, and go back to their Source.

Our Source is Light. Our Source is God. Our ultimate goal is to go back to Him and become Him.

Until we reach the highest goal, Meditations help us live this life sensibly, peacefully and fully.

Living this life in this moment properly is most important. If we live properly in the present, the future is taken care of automatically.

So, we take up Meditations for many reasons in the beginning, and ultimately, to become Light. (Based on the teachings of Guruji Krishnananda)

BECOMING UNIVERSAL

A lady was travelling in a bus. She was looking at the people moving around outside. Suddenly she felt a surge of immense love within her. Then she saw everyone as Light. She had not made any conscious effort to send Light and yet, it happened. She was in that state for a short time. What actually happened was that she briefly became Universal.

If we carry Love and Light in us always, this happens. It happens when we love this world, when we love the life on this earth and when we love everyone. This is an experience of total Oneness during which she became a Universal being.

The Divine Light that she experienced has everything—Unconditional Love, Infinite Wisdom, Eternal Peace and Abundance. Carry Light within you always. You will have abundance. Abundance is not just material wealth. Abundance includes love, peace, health, etc.

To become a Universal Being, one can practise the following:

- Fill yourself with Divine Light and carry It with you always.
- Experience Divine Light at the core of your being.
- Get connected to everyone and everything and experience Oneness.
- Get connected to the Greater Core, God Himself.
- Spread the Divine Light to everyone and everything.
- Manifest the Divine Light in your living.
- Become Light.

We can definitely practise all of these if we make efforts. When we carry Light always, we will not behave like ordinary human beings. We will be Universal, like the citizens of the Light Age. We will be like God Himself. (Based on the teachings of Guruji Krishnananda)

The Sacred month of Ashada Masa

On 28th June, we entered the most auspicious month of the year, known as Ashada Masa in Sanskrit. This is the month during which we receive the Highest and the Purest energies directly from the Source of All, the realm of God Himself.

Since these energies are so powerful, there are no inauspicious moments in this month. This period is like a gift from God, and is most suited for intense Meditations.

In the past, people knew about the sacredness of this month and therefore, they would not waste any time in worldly matters like marriages and other celebrations; they would spend all their time in Spiritual activities that would help them advance spiritually.

Over the years, this knowledge got distorted and people started believing that Ashada Masa is inauspicious for worldly activities. Its importance for Spiritual activities was forgotten.

The energies that the earth is receiving keeps increasing in intensity and reaches the peak on 12th July. This day receives the maximum energies and is known as Guru Poornima. The real Guru is God Himself, who takes us from darkness to Light. The month ends on 26th July.

So, let us make the most of this Divine Gift of Ashada Masa by meditating and channelling Light as much as possible and spread peace to our troubled world. (Based on the teachings of Guruji Krishnananda)

Becoming

“The only way to have a friend is to become one.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

Unless we establish friendliness within us we cannot evoke the same in others. The friendliness in us vibrates and activates similar vibrations in others. This applies even to the negative thoughts and vibrations. Anger, jealousy, greed, selfishness, hatred etc. evoke similar responses in others; naturally.

If we have to see God in others we have to become pure; become God. Thus Becoming is very important and essential. Meditation becomes. (Written by Guruji Krishnananda in 1990.)

On Spirituality

What is Spirituality? Visiting Temples, performing Poojas, observing Vratas, going on pilgrimages, giving alms, performing Homas & Yagas, reciting Vedas, singing Bhajans ... all these activities, are good. When understood properly they transcend from religious to Spiritual.

If we can recognise the presence of God in everyone and everything, if we can perform work as service to God, then the work in the office, driving a bus, selling a thing or polishing a shoe becomes Spiritual. The demarking line between the Material and the Spiritual vanishes. Whole life becomes Spiritual.

Tuning to God is Spirituality. Tuning is Yoga; the Union. We need not go through postures and breathing exercises. We can establish the contact with Him in the hour of Meditation and keep it alive in the other hours of work and rest. (Written by Guruji Krishnananda)

Moderation is Spiritual

(Based on the teachings of Guruji Krishnananda)

A serious and sincere meditator told me that she does not feel like meeting people anymore. She says she wants to avoid people; if she has any visitors she will be waiting for them to go away. And she enjoys being alone.

It is a natural and good development. It is good to enjoy being alone. But we must remember that we live in a world that was created by God for us. God gifted us this world. We should not isolate ourselves from the world, from people.

Any extreme is not Spiritual. Moderation is the Mantra.

We have to spend time alone each day. When we are alone, we are with God.

But other people are also God. The world is God. We should not keep away from them.

When people stay away from others for long, they begin disliking them. The dislike may lead to a hatred of the world outside. This is not right.

We should not hate anyone or anything. We should not judge or criticize anyone.

The world is not perfect. We are not perfect. We are in Times of imperfection.

But we are moving into the advanced Times of the Light Age, where we all enjoy living a perfect life in a perfect world.

While we wait for such advanced times, let us follow moderation, avoid extremes and live a balanced life.

TIMELESS TRUTHS

The opening statement of A Course in Miracles, which has teachings from the Jesus Christ, reads - “Nothing real can be threatened. Nothing unreal exists. Herein lies the peace of God.”

In the Bhagavad Gita, Chapter 2, Shloka 16, Lord Krishna teaches – “The unreal hath no being: the Real never ceaseth to be. The truth about these two has been perceived by the seers of Truth.” (Translation from Sadhu Vaswani’s The Bhagavad Gita: The Song of Life)

Guruji Krishnananda has taught that the whole Creation is made of Light, Consciousness or God. Without Maya we can see only Light. Maya is a gift. It is not a curse or a limitation. God gave us the faculty of #Maya through which we could see the Creation as He created it.

When #God created many beautiful earths, mountains, trees, butterflies, etc. we found that we could see only Light everywhere. Maya helps us see things as they are created. Everything is Light. Since Light is the Source of everything and Light is real, hence all the forms that emerge from #Light are also real.

Thus Creation is real, not an illusion. Guruji taught that to believe Creation as permanent is an illusion.

Creation and our life in it are as real as we want it to be.

William Shakespeare said this in his own way – “All the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players; they have their exits and their entrances, and one man in his time plays many parts.”

The same timeless Truths are taught by Masters in different periods of Time or #Yugas. Such Truths remain the same for every human being throughout history irrespective of their cultural, social, religious, regional and gender identities. Immense gratitude to the#Spiritual Masters and my Spiritual Guide - Guruji Krishnananda.

Quotes from the Rishis - God Responds

“A mere wish, a mere prayer is enough, God responds. In Stillness, be aware of Him and send love. God is waiting to speak to us. He is ready to talk anytime, anywhere, about anything. Try to listen to Him.”

– Guruji Krishnananda

Spiritual goals

“What is a Spiritual goal?”, asked a seeker on the Spiritual Path.

A Spiritual goal is one that fulfils the purpose of coming down to this earth. We have taken birth to experience and celebrate life here. So, experiencing the beauty and the diversity on this earth and living life fully is a Spiritual goal.

To learn to overcome our negativity, to experience and manifest peace and love, and to align with the Divine are all Spiritual goals.

To fill our world with vibrations of harmony to manifest the life-force, and to experience and spread the Divine Light to the whole world are Spiritual goals.

After appreciating and experiencing the life in this Material Cosmos, we have to return to our origin in the Divine Planes. So, going back home is also a Spiritual goal.

But instead of going back to our origin, we can choose to stay here and help others achieve their Spiritual goals. The prospect of helping others is a wonderful opportunity. If we choose to help others, we will be taking up the work of the Rishis (Light Masters). This is a very great Spiritual goal because it is the goal of the Rishis.

The Rishis have achieved the highest. They are here to help us realise our Spiritual goals. They are here to help us choose to help others and join the Rishis’ work, which is huge.

Even after choosing to work for the Rishis, we must try to attain perfection because, even that is a Spiritual goal.

When we attain perfection, we are fully aligned with the Divine and we manifest the Divine all the time. This is our ultimate goal.

Silent Revolution

This is a call for a Silent Revolution.

The world is in turmoil today. There are protests and demonstrations in countless places all over the world. People are protesting against economic failure, corrupt governments and many injustices. Most of these protests are by the ordinary citizens, and are either crushed by force or rendered ineffective by blocking their publication in the mainstream media.

The common man can only vote once in many years to elect the politicians in countries with democracy. The power is transferred from the common man to the politicians. After that the citizen has no say in the way the country is governed. Democracy has failed to ensure quality of life to people.

When people feel helpless, they resort to protests and demonstrations because there seems to be nothing else that they can do. Though protests are sometimes necessary, there is another way that is more effective. There IS something that the common man anywhere in the world can do right from his or her home. And that is the Way of the Light.

A Silent Revolution by Light is possible. All it takes is for people to channel Light to the world in large numbers. The world may not change overnight, but there will be gradual and definite changes. Fill the world with Light. The Light is the Source of everything and has the Power and Intelligence to transform our world. Though the Light is everywhere, we need to consciously channel and spread it to our world. By channelling Light in large numbers, we will be choosing Light collectively.

Imagine an Ocean of Light above you. Imagine that a beam of Light comes down and enters you. Then, imagine that the Light comes out and spreads to the whole world for at least seven minutes daily. If possible, channel Light in groups. To access technique video please visit - http://www.lightchannels.com/channelling.html Please spread this message freely to empower the citizens of our world and help strengthen the Silent Revolution by Light.
